Milwaukee Bucks have revealed that they are not ready to let go of their star player and NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, even if he rejects a new deal.
The two-time MVP can sign a contract extension this summer and NBA teams are observing the situation at the Bucks should the star decides against signing a new deal.
If he fails to sign a new contract, the reigning MVP will be able to leave on a free in 2021, but the Bucks are ready to convince the player to stay by adding more quality players to the team next year.
The Bucks have made the top seed in the Eastern Conference two seasons consecutively, but they have not made it to the NBA Finals on both occasions.
Milwaukee Bucks lost 4-1 to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference playoffs but adding a third star may be difficult for the Bucks.
However, the Bucks can worry about adding a third and worry less about Giannis leaving after the player stated that he is focused on getting right into the next season as a better player and overall with the team getting better.
“It’s not happening. That’s not happening; some see a wall and go in [another direction]. I plow through it. We just have to get better as a team, individually and get right back at it next season.” Giannis said.
While Giannis failed to make the NBA Final, his brother Kostas Antetokounmpo lifted the title with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers, led by LeBron James, beat Miami Heat 4-2 in the finals 4-2. It is their first title in ten years, having last won it in 2010 with the late Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in January, leading the team to glory.
