Rookie Cameron Carr delivered a standout performance with a game-high 23 points as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the LA Clippers 99-85 in the 2026 NBA Summer League on Tuesday, maintaining their unbeaten record in the competition.
The contest was closely fought during the opening minutes, with the lead changing hands four times in the first six minutes. However, once the Lakers edged ahead 10-9, they seized complete control of the game and never relinquished the advantage.
Los Angeles built a commanding 54-38 lead by halftime and continued to dominate after the break. A 29-22 edge in the third quarter stretched the margin further, leaving the Clippers with too much ground to recover as the Lakers comfortably closed out a 14-point victory.
Carr led a balanced Lakers attack that featured five players scoring in double figures. Chris Mañon recorded an impressive double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Adou Thiero contributed 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Arthur Kaluma added 15 points off the bench, and AK Okereke chipped in with 11 to round out the scoring support.
The Clippers struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the game, shooting just 42.6 percent from the field and a disappointing 23.8 percent from three-point range.
Kobe Sanders was the brightest performer for the Clippers, finishing with a team-high 18 points and six rebounds. Fifth overall pick Keaton Wagler contributed 16 points, six rebounds and four assists but endured an inefficient shooting night, converting only six of his 15 attempts from the floor.
Nick Martinelli provided a spark off the bench with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes, but his efforts were not enough to prevent the Clippers from slipping to a 1-2 record in the Summer League.
The victory keeps the Lakers’ perfect record intact as they continue to build momentum in the tournament behind strong contributions from both their starters and bench unit.
The Clippers will look to bounce back when they face the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. ET, while the unbeaten Lakers return to action against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
