Chicago Bulls lead the race for Russell Westbrook in case of a buyout from the Utah Jazz; Miami Heat and the Clippers also in the race

Several rumours in and around the NBA suggest that the Chicago Bulls are interested in Russell Westbrook. However, due to a blockbuster trade on deadline day, the Bulls will now have to pursue Westbrook from the Utah Jazz in case there’s a buyout.

A blockbuster trade on deadline day saw the Los Angeles Lakers strengthen their starting five as they want to progress upwards into the post season. The Lakers hence got involved in a three way trade which saw them secure the likes of Malik Beasley, D’Angello Russell and Jared Vanderbilt. The trade involved the Lakers, the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Timberwolves as Russell Westbrook ended up in the Utah Jazz roster.

Overall if the move to Chicago happens then it will be a good move for Westbrook as he is not expected to stay long in Utah. The 9 time All-Star is all set to get bought out by the Jazz according to several reports and hence the Bulls are on their toes to seal the deal as early as possible.

According to Yahoo Sports analyst Chris Haynes, the Bulls have expressed their interest in Westbrook for a long time and hence they are waiting for the Utah Jazz to precede with the buy out. The Bulls have been interested in the Triple Double leader since the start of January.

However with the drastic changes happening in the NBA on deadline day, things have been a little surprising for some teams and players. But overall the Bulls will feel positive in securing Westbrook in this window.

The Charlotte Hornets were also interested in the point-guard before the Utah Jazz snapped him up in a three way trade. Whereas Los Angeles Clippers also weighed their chances of securing the superstar but then decided not to make a move when the time came.

So it is pretty clear that the Bulls will not have a cakewalk once he sees a buyout from the Utah Jazz as the Miami Heat are also reportedly interested as he is someone who suits their aggressive style of gameplay.

However his tenure at Lakers was nowhere near his best and it is not a part of his career that he wil back too often. Westbrook’s main aim now will be to sure up his next destination and then work on his game to prove the Lakers management and coach wrong later on.
