Denver Nuggets star Christian Wood lauds teammate Luka Doncic and is still in awe of his 60-point performance against the New York Knicks

Luka Doncic has been turning heads in the NBA this season with some exceptional performances till now. The Slovenian has been in marvellous form and people all over the NBA fraternity have been in awe of his performances. So much so that his new teammate Christian Wood also just cannot stop praising the youngster for his heroics this season.

Before the start of the season a lot of people felt that the Slovenian is a favourite to win the MVP and with his performances he has not disappointed his fans. He has been a mayhem for defenders and is clearly one of the best scorers in the NBA at the moment. Also coupled with his offensive brilliance, he also has great basketball IQ and solid passing sense. His ability to move the ball is second to none among the younger stars in the league and therefore he is someone who leads the Mavericks and takes most of the possession.

Buoyed by Doncic’s sensational performances the Dallas Mavericks are also getting good wins off late as they have risen to fifth position in the Western Conference and are doing much better at the moment in comparison to how they started the season.

In the last 10 games, the Mavericks have won seven times and it has been mostly due to Doncic’s exceptional performances. But overall the wins have uplifted the morales at the franchise. During this phase, the Slovenian averaged 39.2 points,10.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists while shooting 51.9% from the field. His standout performance was against the New York Knicks as he came up with 60 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists in a performance of a lifetime.

Teammate Christian Wood who has been highly impressed with Luka DOncic shared his thoughts on the youngster in an interview with NBA twitter Mark Medina. Wood shared that he has never seen another player put up a performance like Doncic in his career till now.

“That’s the most impressive thing I’ve seen a player do in my career so far. I played with a lot of guys, including Giannis [Antetokounmpo] and Luka. But I had never seen Giannis go for 60-20-10. That’s unheard of,” said the former Houston Rockets man.

There’s no doubt that players like Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Ja Morant, Jayson Tataum, etc. are the future faces of this league and they are playing like they are ready to take over. Doncic has been in sublime touch this season as he keeps on dropping sensational performances one after another. Doncic is overall averaging 34.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.6 steals this season and is one of the favorites to win the prestigious MVP trophy.
