ESPN NBA analyst Brian Windhorst shares that the Lakers are not looking to trade Russell Westbrook anymore

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a relatively quiet offseason as they have not made any statement signings despite failing to qualify for the playoffs last season. The Lakers shockingly missed out of the playoffs as they suffered with dipping form and injuries to their players. Despite the best efforts of LeBron James, the Purple and Gold army missed the promised land. But they still have not made major additions to their squad for the upcoming season.

Till now they have added a few players to their roster out of which the most popular name has to be Patrick Beverley. The former Minnesota guard will add defensive stability to the ranks and will allow the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis to go berserk in offense. However the signing of Pat Bev raised questions on the future of Russell Westbrook who was actually the superstar signing for the Lakers.

But the former Wizards point guard experienced a major dip in his shooting statistics for the first time in his career and failed to deal with it completely throughout the last season. So the fans and several experts believed that with Beverley in their squad, they will trade off Westbrook.

But, according to recent reports, it is hinted that Westbrook is staying with the Lakers because they have not received a proper trade offer that entices them. Hence they are trying to make this guiard duo of Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook work despite knowing that these two players have a history of feud and rivalry.

ESPN analyst and NBA Insider Brian Windhorst believes that Westbrook will be a part of the Lakers in the upcoming season and they have decided to work their way with both the guards in their team as suggested by their new coach Darwin Ham.

“Based on the executives I’m talking to, they believe that the Lakers have come to a conclusion that they are not going to trade Westbrook now because they don’t like any of their offers,” Windhorst said. “And they’re going to try to make the best of it and see what happens. That’s what the executives think,” Windhorst shared the information that he has received from the executives.

The fans seem to have no faith with the triple double king as Westbrook struggled very badly last time. They simply don’t want to give him a second chance. But unlike the fans, the coach and the management believe in Westbrook as Ham shared how he is looking forward to the new season where he is ready to unleash a new version of him.
