Former Lakers Guard Malik Monk Thinks LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook Will Work Out

The Los Angeles Lakers were the biggest disappointments in the league last season. LeBron James did all he could but the team fell apart early on. Anthony Davis dealt with injuries all season long and the Russell Westbrook experiment was a disaster, to say the least, as he had one of the worst seasons of his career.

Malik Monk was one of the few bright spots for the Lakers last year and since he was there for all it last year, he is more than qualified to talk about this subject.

The Lakers didn’t even make it to the NBA Play-In Tournament, which started a lot of questions inside and outside their locker room. Darvin Ham was named their new head coach and when the NBA Summer League started, in one of the games Russell Westbrook was seen sitting very far away from his teammate LeBron James and Ham, which started some rumors about the future of the team.

Since then, even more rumors have spread, including one about Westbrook being part of a trade for Kyrie Irving. The deal hasn’t been made but Monk, who was inside the LA locker room last season, talked about what holds for the team’s Big 3’s immediate future.

Monk talked to TMZ Sports about what he thinks of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook and their commitment issue situation with the Lakers. “Of course, the 2021-22 season was a mess for the Lakers — they missed the playoffs as AD missed a ton of games due to injury … and Russ’ production was a serious issue,” Monk said.

However, Monk added “Especially when they have convos like that, it’ll work out for them. They all great,” he added. “LeBron had a big part of everything, he had a big part in me coming to L.A,” Monk concluded.

Malik Monk had the best season of his career, averaging 13.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 28.1 minutes over 76 games for the Lakers. It was Monk’s fifth season in the league and it led to him signing a two-year-deal worth $19 million deal with the Kings in the offseason.
