Apart from LeBron James, it is Anthony Davis who has been the mainstay for the Los Angeles Lakers. So in LeBron’s absence, the former Pelicans star has been leading the Purple and Gold army. While they have had inconsistent results this season Davis has been the constant figure in the team for Frank Vogel’s men.
Lakers’ trust in AD has earned him a lot of accolades and also a place in the NBA’s 75th anniversary. But the former Rockets man Tracy McGrady points out how Dwight Howard should be in that list over Davis.
Anthony Davis has been vesting all the responsibilities for Vogel’s men this season. While he has come up with great numbers, the Lakers have had a topsy turvy ride. AD is currently averaging 25 points and nearly 12 rebounds per game. He is curently ranked 12th and 7th respectively. Before joining the Lakers, Davis was a reliable forward at the New Orleans Pelicans where he used to drop 20+ points consistently. hence there is no doubt that Anthony Davis is considered as one of the best in the business when it comes to the NBA.
The list that came out on Nba’ss 7th anniversary had several controversial exclusions including Kyrie Irving, Dwight Howard, Klay Thompson etc. Howard however admitted his disappointment for not making it to the list despite achieving great heights in his long and illustrious NBA career. Whereas Thompson and Kyrie were also evidently disappointed.
But Howard felt it was disrespectful and he saw that coming. The 35-year-old center is known for his defensive prowess as a big man. He has been the difference-maker far too many times to miss the list. Therefore Hall of Famer McGrady feels that Howard deserves a place in NBA’s 75 list even more than his teammate Anthony Davis.
Recently Howard and Davis had a spat and it became viral on social media. Mcgrady has only added more fuel to the fire. Even Rockets legend McGrady was excluded from the list as went on saying on how Howard deserves it more than AD.
“You’re trying to tell me if Anthony Davis was to retire right now, he has a better career than Dwight Howard? No way, ” the Houston Rockets legend opined on being asked about the choices in the NBA’s 75 list.
