Ja Morant out of All-NBA teams

Ja Morant, the young basketball prodigy, has had a rocky season filled with scandals that have marred his otherwise promising career. One scandal involved guns when pictures of him holding a gun went viral on social media. Fans and critics alike were quick to condemn the act as irresponsible and dangerous for someone in the public eye.

The player also faced charges of violence when he assaulted a young man in a pickup game in his neighborhood.

Many speculated that these scandals would affect the player’s chances of being named to an All-NBA team, and they were right.

The NBA announced the All-NBA teams for the 2022-23 season, and the name of the Memphis Grizzlies point guard does not appear on any.

The 23-year-old basketball player was not included in any All-NBA team despite having accumulated a total of 44 points, and that will strongly affect his salary for the coming seasons. According to projections made by ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Ja Morant lost $39 million by not being named among the top fifteen players.

The Grizzlies’ point guard signed a five-year, $194.3 million extension that he would start next season. However, his extension was eligible to be considered supermax, and he would receive $233 million if he were selected as an All-NBA.

Morant played the 2022-23 season under a contract that paid him $9.6 million. However, his value on the court was greater than that amount, as he contributed 26.2 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds in 61 regular-season games. In addition, he earned his second invitation to the All-Star Game.
