Josh Giddey Linked to Blockbuster Move to Golden State Warriors Amid Bulls Contract Standoff

Australian NBA star Josh Giddey could be on the verge of a stunning switch to the Golden State Warriors, with fresh reports suggesting a potential sign-and-trade deal that would send Jonathan Kuminga to the Chicago Bulls. The move, if completed, would dramatically reshape both rosters ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Giddey, who ended his fourth NBA campaign on a blistering run of form, has entered restricted free agency with his value at an all-time high. It was widely anticipated that the Bulls would reward the 22-year-old with a long-term extension worth around $45 million per season. Instead, negotiations have stalled, with Chicago reportedly unwilling to offer more than $17 million annually.

This impasse has opened the door for rival teams to make their move. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, multiple franchises have contacted Giddey’s representatives, with Golden State emerging as a serious contender. “Golden State would be interested, depending on how the machinations could go in some type of Josh Giddey–Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade, to my understanding,” Fischer revealed on Bleacher Report’s live stream.

For the Warriors, Giddey’s arrival would provide another skilled ball handler and creative playmaker, allowing Steph Curry greater freedom to operate off the ball. Meanwhile, the Bulls would gain Kuminga, a 22-year-old scoring wing with significant upside, potentially accelerating their retooling process.

Warriors management is believed to be enthusiastic about the possibility of pairing Giddey’s court vision with Curry’s shooting brilliance, seeing it as a recipe for one of the league’s most dynamic backcourt duos. Fans on social media have been quick to endorse the idea, with one X user calling it “an ELITE pick-up,” while another wrote, “That duo with Curry would be lethal.”

The Bulls now face a crucial decision — either meet Giddey’s asking price or risk losing him to a Western Conference powerhouse. A sign-and-trade involving Kuminga could prove tempting, particularly if Chicago believes it cannot match offers from other suitors.

While talks are still in the exploratory phase, the buzz surrounding this potential blockbuster is growing rapidly. If completed, the deal would mark a major shift in the NBA’s competitive landscape and give Giddey the chance to play alongside one of the greatest shooters in history.

For now, both sets of fans will be watching closely, hoping the negotiations turn speculation into one of the offseason’s defining moves.
