When you talk about the Jordan brand, that means you’re doing something right at a high level – Jason Kidd on Luka Doncic

Dallas Mavericks talisman Luka Doncic recently received his first signature shoe with the Jordan brand. His head coach Jason Kidd believes the youngster is ticking the right boxes in his career and that is why he taking the upward trajectory in his career.

Kidd reckons that Doncic is doing something right at a high level if he has received his shoe with Jordan.

Speaking on Fanatics’ view, Hall of Famer Jason Kidd said, “When you talk about a signature shoe and you have that jump man on it, that means you’re special.”

“When you talk about the Jordan Brand, again, the jump man himself – when he gives you a shoe, that means you’re doing something right at a high level, and Luka deserves his own shoe.”

Doncic has been doing a fine job in his young career and he has impressed one and all with his skills. The 23-year-old was at his best as he averaged 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists in 65 games in the 2021-22 season. He was selected to play in his third All-Star game.

On the other hand, earlier NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe had likened Luka Doncic to Larry Bird.

Speaking on Undisputed, Sharpe said, “Luka is the closest thing to Larry Bird, and when it’s all said and done, he’ll probably be better than Bird! Luka is the one guy that can give 40 points and 15 assists. He’s phenomenal.”

In 2021-22, Luka shot 45.7% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range as he was at his best for Dallas Mavericks.

He averaged 26.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists in seven games of Eurobasket while playing for his national team Slovenia.

Dallas Mavericks will begin their NBA 2022-23 season against Phoenix Suns on the 19th of October
