Warren: Usyk vs. Fury rematch date to be decided soon

Promoter Frank Warren has announced that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are close to reaching a date for their heavyweight rematch. Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years after defeating Tyson Fury for the belt less than two weeks ago. But there’s still business to be done as the rematch clause, contained in the initial fight agreement, has been triggered.

“The date will be set within the next month,” Warren confirmed. “Both fighters are eager for it, and we are moving forward.”

Their first bout was quite entertaining, with both fighters bringing their all to the match. “It was an epic fight between two gladiators who left nothing in the ring,” Warren remarked. “It was very close, and I think the rematch will be even more significant.”

Initially, Fury appeared to have the upper hand, but Usyk made a dramatic comeback in the latter rounds. The ninth round was particularly intense, with Usyk almost stopping Fury, who needed a standing count. Despite this setback, Warren is confident that Fury can make the necessary adjustments to win the rematch.

“I believe Tyson can win, and he believes it too,” Warren said. “At the end of the seventh round, Tyson landed some strong uppercuts that seemed to trouble Usyk. However, Usyk found a second wind and landed a solid shot on Tyson’s nose in the next round, shifting the momentum.”

The ninth round proved pivotal, altering the fight’s dynamics. “It was a fight of two halves,” Warren noted. “Tyson knows what changes he needs to make, and I’m sure Usyk does as well. Both fighters endured an intense battle, which has undoubtedly taken a toll on them.”

The rematch will be a lot more challenging and tasking for the first, as both fighters have now sized each other up and know where to improve their tactics. “It will be interesting to see who has been more affected by the first fight when they meet again,” Warren concluded.
