Advantage Real Madrid As Barcelona Drops Points Against Atletico Madrid

Barcelona dropped two points at the Camp Nou, to give Real Madrid a potential advantage in the title race.

Real Madrid can go four points clear of FC Barcelona by the time they host Getafe on Thursday in the Spanish La Liga after FC Barcelona Drew 2-2 against Atletico Madrid in their game on Tuesday night.

In a match where Lionel Messi scored his 700th career goal for FC Barcelona, three penalties were awarded as Barcelona scored one penalty, and Atletico Madrid scored two penalty kicks of their own.

Barcelona took the lead from an own goal from Diego Costa in the 11th minute, but Saul equalised for Atletico Madrid in the 19th minute from a penalty which was initially missed by Diego Costa.

Five minutes after the break Lionel Messi scored a penalty of his own in panenka style. However, just 12 minutes later Saul scored his own penalty as both sides failed to find the winner in the match with Real Madrid now leading the La Liga table by a single point despite having a game in and later on Thursday.

Real Madrid who has won all the games they played since the return of football in Spain will now face Getafe, who sits five on the log and will be hoping to get a win which would take them are four points clear of closest rival Barcelona.

In other games in the La Liga Mallorca thrashed Celta Vigo 5-1 and Leganes lost to Sevilla by three goals to nil. Tomorrow in matches to be played Valencia would face Atletico Bilbao, Alaves and Granada, Betis v Villarreal and Valladolid v Levante.
