Al-Nassr Appoints Jorge Jesus as New Head Coach, Reuniting with Ronaldo Amid High Hopes

Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus has officially taken over as the new head coach of Al-Nassr, just two months after parting ways with their fierce rival Al-Hilal. The announcement, made by the club on Monday, marks a significant shift in the Saudi Pro League as the experienced tactician prepares to lead Al-Nassr in the upcoming season.

“It’s official, Mr. Jorge Jesus is the new coach of Al-Nassr,” the club confirmed in a post on X, igniting excitement among fans eager for a fresh start following the departure of Italian manager Stefano Pioli.

Jesus, 70, arrives with a strong track record, most recently having led Al-Hilal to a domestic treble in the 2023–2024 campaign. Despite the domestic success, his stint ended in May after Al-Hilal suffered a disappointing exit in the semifinals of the AFC Champions League at the hands of fellow Saudi side Al-Ahli.

A seasoned veteran, Jesus previously captured the Copa Libertadores title with Brazil’s Flamengo and brings decades of international experience to his new role. He has signed a one-year contract with Al-Nassr, signaling a short-term but high-stakes commitment.

His arrival at Al-Nassr sets the stage for a high-profile reunion with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The club also confirmed that the 40-year-old forward, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has extended his contract until 2027, further underlining the club’s ambition on both domestic and continental fronts.

The pairing of Jesus and Ronaldo is expected to bring tactical sharpness and star power to Al-Nassr, which has won the Saudi league nine times but is still chasing recent consistency and silverware amid rising competition.

The move also adds an extra layer of drama to the already intense rivalry between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. Jesus’ direct switch between the two powerhouses will undoubtedly be watched closely by fans and critics alike as the new season approaches.

With the leadership of Jorge Jesus and the extended presence of Ronaldo, Al-Nassr is positioning itself as a serious contender in the Saudi Pro League and beyond, aiming to break the dominance of their rivals and make a deeper run in continental competitions.
