Amorim explains why Leão won’t be part of the Milan squad

Ruben Amorim explained why Rafael Leao, Youssouf Fofana, Santiago Gimenez, and Fikayo Tomori aren’t part of his plans.

The ex-Manchester United boss also confirmed the players won’t be joining Milan for their next Serie A game against Venezia.

He also made it clear they won’t be part of his squad and won’t get first-team training unless they leave before the close of the summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri manager said this at his Thursday press conference, ahead of Saturday’s home game against Venezia, which will be his first time at San Siro.

Amorim, who refused to comment on individual cases, said he would address them at his next press conference after the transfer window closes. He added that he’s happy to chat with journalists as much as they’d like about the club’s dealings and transfer plans afterward.

The manager, who described the situation as tough, confirmed that the Portuguese international is out of the squad for the Venezia game, adding that he has only trained with the first team once.

He also said he would release the squad list right after the transfer window closes, noting that Leao isn’t quite fit compared to the rest, as he aims to pick only the best available players.

He’s asking journalists to wait five more days until the market closes, saying there’s nothing to hide.

Amorim described the Portuguese attacker as a top-class player who can thrive in any team around the world if he approaches it with the right mindset.

“There are moments when you realize you need to go somewhere else, and we’re right in the middle of that. You all know what’s going on; let’s hold off, keep the focus on Venezia.

“We haven’t talked much about Giovanni Stroppa or how they play; they’ve won nearly every game in Serie B, and I’m really worried about this one, our first game of the season at San Siro.

He explained that Tomori, Fofana, and Gimenez are being removed from the squad, haven’t received squad numbers, and won’t be allowed to train with the first team if they’re still at the club in September.

This is a strong message from the manager. They need to secure a transfer, even on loan, away from the club in the next five days.
