Arsenal Agree Deal in Principle for Christos Tzolis as Summer Recruitment Continues

Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement with Club Brugge to sign Greece international Christos Tzolis in a deal worth 40 million euros (£33.9 million), marking another significant step in the club’s busy summer transfer window.

While the Gunners are yet to submit a formal offer, the move is regarded as a formality, with personal terms also expected to be completed without any complications. Once Arsenal officially present their bid, Tzolis is expected to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s interest in the 24-year-old winger gathered pace following the departure of Belgium international Leandro Trossard to Besiktas. The club had accelerated their pursuit earlier this week as they moved quickly to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Sporting director Andrea Berta has played a key role in advancing the deal. His assistant, Maurizio Micheli, closely monitored Tzolis during Greece’s international fixture against Sweden last month before Arsenal stepped up negotiations with Club Brugge.

Despite nearing the signing of Tzolis, Arsenal’s summer recruitment plans are far from complete. The move for the Greek attacker is understood to be separate from the club’s ongoing search for a high-profile forward, with multiple targets still under consideration.

Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez remains Arsenal’s priority target for the role. However, competition for the Argentina international is expected to be intense, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid also interested in securing his signature.

The north London club are also pursuing greater versatility in attack. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has emerged as Arsenal’s preferred option, although progress on that front is expected only after the England international completes his involvement at the World Cup.

If Arsenal are unable to strike an agreement with Aston Villa, Paris St-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has been identified as the leading alternative. Villa are reportedly valuing Rogers at £130 million, a figure that could make negotiations challenging despite Arsenal’s continued interest.

With a verbal agreement now in place for Tzolis and further attacking reinforcements still on the agenda, Arsenal appear determined to strengthen their squad on multiple fronts as preparations for the upcoming season continue.
