We are approaching the last weeks of the transfer window, and things are heating up.
According to various reports, Arsenal and Manchester United are in an open battle to sign a Bayern Munich midfielder.
The player in question is Corentin Tolisso. The Red Devils tried to get the player last summer but decided to prioritize other players and positions.
In this transfer window, Man Utd is back in the race to sign the central midfielder. But it will not be easy, as the player is of great interest to Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta had Tolisso on his agenda in case Granit Xhaka left the club. In the end, the Swiss has renewed his contract with the Gunners, but Arteta believes that Corentin can be a sound reinforcement for his team.
In addition, Thomas Partey’s injury in the pre-season puts pressure on Arteta to find a quality replacement. Arsenal finds the £8.5m price tag that Bayer has set for the player attractive.
Last year Bayern set the player’s price tag at £31m, but because his contract expires in less than a year, the German club wants to make some cash on the Frenchman.
Tolisso has not had a good spell at Bayern Munich in his four seasons with the club and has struggled for playing time.
The Gunner boss has said the doors at the Emirates will remain open until the last minute of the transfer window and is not ruling out new signings.
“I don’t know what will happen. Again I repeat myself. We train with the players we have available. “We try to do the right things to improve the team in the areas that are needed. At the moment we came so far, and there’s still a window that is open.” said Arteta.
