Barcelona gets advantage in race for Swedish striker

Barcelona have been handed a significant boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. According to reports, the Swedish international is open to joining the Catalan club, and they are eager to sign him as a replacement for 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski.

Isak has been in impressive form for Newcastle this season, scoring 17 goals in 22 Premier League appearances. His performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal, who have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old. However, Barcelona are now in the driving seat, having already held talks with Isak’s representatives.

The Spanish giants are facing stiff competition from Arsenal, who are also keen to sign Isak. However, Newcastle are reportedly demanding a hefty £150 million ($187m) transfer fee, which could prove to be a stumbling block for both clubs. Despite their financial struggles, Barcelona are determined to bring Isak to Camp Nou and are exploring ways to meet Newcastle’s asking price.

Isak’s contract with Newcastle runs until 2028, giving the Magpies a strong bargaining position. However, the striker’s desire to join Barcelona could persuade Newcastle to sell. Isak’s impressive form has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, and Barcelona are eager to capitalize on his interest in joining the club.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been warned that they will have to pay the full £150 million transfer fee if they want to sign Isak. The Gunners have been tracking Isak for some time, but their chances of signing him appear to be dwindling. With Barcelona now in the picture, Arsenal face a tough battle to secure Isak’s signature.

Arsenal desperately need a striker after injury problems depleted their frontline this season, with Kai Havertz joining the injuries list that already has Bukayo Saka

The transfer saga is set to continue in the coming weeks, with Isak’s future hanging in the balance. One thing is certain, however: the Swedish striker will be in high demand this summer, and his next move will be closely watched by football fans around the world.
