Barcelona shifts focus to La Liga title with El Clasico after Champions League exit

As the dust settles on Barcelona’s heartbreaking extra-time elimination from the UEFA Champions League semi-final, Hansi Flick’s men now face a clear and singular objective: securing the La Liga title.

With just four matches remaining, the Blaugrana hold a four-point advantage over fierce rivals Real Madrid, making each fixture a potential title decider. Victory in the upcoming El Clásico would extend that lead to seven points, leaving Barça just one win away from clinching the title.

Despite their European disappointment, Barcelona can take confidence from their dominant domestic record over Madrid this season. Flick has a perfect record in El Clásico since taking charge, winning all three previous meetings in the Super Cup, Copa del Rey, and La Liga.

On the opposing side, Kylian Mbappé remains Madrid’s key threat. With 24 league goals, the Frenchman has scored eight times in seven career games against Barça, proving his knack for delivering in high-stakes clashes.

A thrilling match could be on the horizon, especially given that none of Ancelotti’s 19 El Clásico encounters as Madrid boss have ended in a draw (W9, L10). Notably, the last five meetings between these sides have each produced at least four goals. With history, form, and the title on the line, Sunday’s showdown promises another chapter in this iconic rivalry.
