Bayern Munich eye €85m-rated Carlos Baleba as Goretzka’s successor

Bayern Munich have identified Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba as a potential summer 2026 target, with the 21-year-old Cameroonian seen as a possible long-term successor to Leon Goretzka, whose future at the Allianz Arena remains in doubt.

Reports from Germany suggest that Brighton would consider offers in the region of €85 million for their midfield enforcer.

Whether Bayern are prepared to meet that valuation is uncertain, especially given the club’s traditionally cautious approach to nine-figure fees for players outside the absolute elite bracket.

Baleba has impressed in the Premier League with his relentless work rate, excellent defensive numbers, an 86% pass accuracy, and a high success rate in take-ons.

Last summer he was strongly linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea, underlining his growing reputation.

In separate news, Bayern have completed the signing of 17-year-old Ecuadorian centre-back Virgilio Olaya from SD Aucas.

The 1.88 m tall defender has already made five first-team appearances in the Ecuadorian Liga Pro and has agreed terms with the Bundesliga giants.

Despite the transfer being officially confirmed by German sources, Olaya is not expected to feature for Vincent Kompany’s senior side in the immediate future.

Instead, Bayern plan to loan the teenager out immediately to ensure continued regular football and further his development.

The move continues Bayern’s recent strategy of scouting and securing some of South America’s most promising young talents, following similar deals in recent years.

While Olaya represents a long-term investment rather than an instant first-team solution, it reinforces the club’s commitment to building for the future through global talent identification.

This shows sufficient planning and future dominance in years to come in Bavaria.
