Bayern player suffers injury ahead of Leipzig clash

Bayern Munich revealed on Tuesday that full-back Sacha Boey had suffered an ankle ligament injury and will be sidelined.

The Bavarian club revealed on its official website on Tuesday morning that they will be without Boey for the time being after the defender suffered an ankle ligament injury in training.

Boey’s entire Bayern Munich career feels like it has been spent on the injured list… and it kind of has. Since joining the team last January, Boey has missed 26 games and 131 days of action so far.

The former Galatasaray man has provided two assists in 10 appearances for Bayern Munich this campaign.

Boey only returned to action late last month following a tear in the meniscus of his left knee in September.

He joined the German club from Türkiye’s Galatasaray in January for €30 million (around $32.5 million). The French player remains under contract with Bayern Munich until 2028.

On the bright side, Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha and winger Serge Gnabry have made a return to training as they partook in a work out on the ball.

Palhinha has been out since suffering an adductor injury on international duty with Portugal in November, while Gnabry has been struggling with a knee issue of late. The pair have now taken the next step towards their comeback.

More good news for Vincent Kompany is Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Josip Stanišić, and Tarek Buchmann also made their respective return from injuries as they took part in the warm-ups.

It is with high hopes that these various players return and regain full fitness as Bayern looks to turn their attention to Bundesliga action on Friday as they host RB Leipzig.

The Bavarians will look to bounce back from a disappointing loss at Mainz last weekend as the league leaders continue to hold grip of first place.
