Bologna’s original asking price for the striker is €40m. The Rossoblu are coming off an encouraging first campaign under Vincenzo Italiano.

With next season in sight, they are beginning to look at potential alternatives in the event that the striker leaves.

Bologna’s first choice is 20-year-old AZ Alkmaar winger Ruben van Bommel, the son of former PSV, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel.

The youngster stands has netted 10 Eredivisie goals from his first 55 appearances in the competition. The 6.2 ft winger also scored three goals from five outings in this season’s Europa League.
