Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy assures the fans that Timo Werner and Kai Havertz will be at their best next season

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy reveals that he believes that the people will see the best of the German stars, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz from next season. The new acquisitions have had a tough start to life at Stamford Bridge but there has been no slacking in their efforts.

However, a lot was expected from the former Bundesliga duo when they joined Chelsea but they are yet to deliver to their lofty standards and also justify the huge amount of money spent on them last summer. There have been some glimpses of their brilliance which assures that the real star is yet to find their mojo but consistency is key in such a club and at such a platform.

While fans start to write them off for their below-par season, Mendy assured them that the German duo will be at their best next season. The former Stade Rennais goalkeeper who also joined in the same transfer window last season told the club’s official website: “They are really good players. They are young players and it is the first time that they have moved to another country.

“I think they needed a couple of months to adjust and understand the Premier League but I see them every day and I know how good they are. I am happy for them. They showed their qualities on the pitch.

“Next season, 100 percent, we will see the best of Timo and Kai. Even this year, we have enjoyed their good levels of performance and they are important for us.”

Havertz recently was used upfront as a false nine by Thomas Tuchel and it paid dividends as the German youngster scored a brilliant brace against Fulham to win 2-0 in the Premier League. Werner provided an assist in that match and also entered the record books as he became one of the only five English top-flight players to reach the double figures in both goals and assists, proving his utility and impact as a player.

The former RB Leipzig man has scored 11 goals till now across all competitions. Whereas Havertz has netted only eight till now.

The German duo will look to maximise their impact on the entire team and with plenty of football left this season, they would love to play a pivotal role in the Blues achieving success in Europe.
