Cristiano Ronaldo’s Role in Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku’s on CR7

Cristiano Ronaldo will make his long-awaited Manchester United return when the Red Devils host Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday in what should be an exciting game. CR7 broke the men’s international goalscoring record on September 1st, scoring a sensational late brace against Ireland to surpass Ali Daei’s previous mark of 109 goals.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested that he will look to use Cristiano Ronaldo as a central striker this season.

Man U shocked the sports world when they announced a deal to bring CR7 back to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window. The 36-year-old will bring his world-class talent to an exciting young team but some wonder where he fits into the Manchester United lineup.

Cristiano Ronaldo was a clinical winger during his previous six-years with Manchester United but he gradually developed into a central striker in his later years at Real Madrid.

Solskjaer insists that Cristiano Ronaldo will do a great job for Manchester United in any attacking role but he also admitted that most of his playing time will likely come as an out-and-out central striker. Ronald has signed a two-year contract, with the option to extend for another year.

“Everyone who knows me, knows about my never-ending love for Manchester United,” Cristiano Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.

“The years I spent in this club were absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.

I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide.

It’s like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Manchester United, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands.

This is absolutely 100% the stuff that dreams are made of!”

Romelu Lukaku: “Don’t ever compare me to Cristiano Ronaldo, never.

Cristiano Ronaldo is, for me, in the top three best players in the history of football. I’m not going to rank him from first to third but he’s in there.

What he has achieved in football today for players of my generation is something exceptional.

I was lucky enough to play against him in Italy and now that he’s back in the Premier League, it’s all good for English football.

As for the rest, comparing statistics and all that, it’s useless.”

Chelsea’s Belgian striker has played two games this season and he has two shots on target and one goal.
