David Alaba talks down comparisons with Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid’s new fan favourite, David Alaba is bothered with his comparisons with club legend Sergio Ramos. The Austria international feels that he is too different to the Spaniard for comparisons.

The former Bayern Munich defender joined Real Madrid this summer as Ramos left the club to join Paris Saint Germain after his contract ended with Los Blancos. With Ramos and Raphael Varane gone, Alaba took up the primary role at the heart of the defence along with Eder Militao.

Alaba’s recent performances have made him a new fan favourite at the Santiago Bernabeu. Hence he was compared with club legend Sergio Ramos. The Spanish centre back spent 16 years at the club and has left a huge legacy behind at Real Madrid winning four La Liga titles and five Champions Leagues.

However, Alaba is not much interested in all the talk as the 29-year-old felt that he is too different to Ramos in terms of playing style.

“I came here to write my own story and play my game. I get the comparisons every now and then, but I don’t really bother with them,” he said to Kicker.

“People accept that I’m here now and play my football, want to write my story with Real.

“We are also different types of players who can hardly be compared with one another.”

David Alaba recently scored his first goal for Real Madrid and have also registered 2 assists in 13 appearances for the club. Los Blancos are currently second in the La Liga points table a point behind Real Sociedad with one match to play. Sevilla are also tied with Real Madrid in terms of points and a win here will take them at the top of the La Liga points table.

Alaba recently admitted that the Royal Whites are a bigger club than Bayern Munich and feels at a special place in the Spanish capital.

“I felt this special aura and atmosphere from day one. And you can tell the history of this club when you walk across the training ground or through the city. This club is something very special,” he added.

“Bayern Munich is one of the largest clubs in the world, as is Real Madrid. Nevertheless, everything here at Real is a tad bigger without being disrespectful to Bayern.”
