According to the latest reports, Borussia Dortmund would like to reach a quick agreement with FC Utrecht regarding Sébastien Haller.
As things stand, a permanent sale is the most likely scenario for Haller, and it is looking possible at the moment.
Following a disappointing spell at Spanish side CD Leganés, Haller found the back of the net in the Netherlands at FC Utrecht.
In 18 games, the Frenchman scored six goals and one assist, helping his side to reach fourth place in the league and the Europa League qualifiers.
Despite his unfair spell at Dortmund, which was negatively affected by a terrible disease, I truly believe a sale is the most beneficial for both Sébastien Haller and BVB. From a 31 million euro signing in 2022 to a two-time loan season, Haller has decayed in terms of form since last year.
The signing of Niclas Füllkrug downgraded Haller’s minutes in Black and Yellow, as the German international was an Edin Terzić request, who corresponded with important goals in the campaign that led BVB to the Champions League Final.
Therefore, a departure for Sébastien Haller looks like the most likely outcome for both sides, and honestly, the best decision. With a contract close to expiring (2026) and a chance to play more minutes elsewhere, Haller had a good but, unfortunately, short spell at BVB.
Dortmund is actively looking for a younger backup striker to Serhou Guirassy, and Sébastien Haller and Youssoufa Moukoko are strongly rumored to be shipped by the end of the transfer window.
Dortmund’s performance this season has seen the coaching staff receive a 1-million euro bonus for qualifying the team for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Niko Kovač’s squad earned 22 points from a possible 24 in their final eight matches, winning every match except for a draw at Bayern Munich.
