Future of Nketiah in doubt as Arsenal’s and Marseille’s valuations differ

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah may not be able to complete a move to Olympique Marseille as both clubs are far apart in valuation for the homegrown player.

The Englishman has been linked with a move away from the North London club this summer, with Marseille being the top club interested in him.

French football expert Jonathan Johnson on Caught Offside revealed that both clubs are currently apart in valuation when it comes to the striker, leaving the deal complicated. What’s left is to see whether the Ligue 1 outfit is willing to accept Arsenal’s demands for the player. The Gunners may likely turn down a low offer for the striker.

Although Nketiah already agreed personal terms with the club, he will be hoping to secure a permanent exit away from the club this summer as he aims to get his career back on track with regular football.

Nketiah surely has the talent but has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at the North London club. This makes a move away from Arsenal ideal for him as he needs to play regularly at this stage of his career.

Marseille will be able to provide him with a first-team opportunity next season, but they will need to reach an agreement with the London club.

Meanwhile, Arsenal also aim to bring in a quality striker. Gabriel Jesus scored just four goals in the league last season, making Arsenal in need of an improvement on him if they are serious about winning the league title, unlike Manchester City that have a wealth of options at their disposal.

As Arsenal needs more quality in the side ahead of another season, regular football in Ligue 1 could prove to be hugely beneficial to Nketiah’s development.

He could fulfill his potential with Marseille in the coming seasons, having shown his quality in the Premier League during his cameos with Arsenal. There is no doubt that he is good enough to start at a high level.

The English striker will hope that both clubs can finalize an agreement quickly so that he can sort out his permanent future and focus on his football once again.
