Spanish club Getafe have made a formal offer to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who became a free agent after his contract expired in the summer.
The 26-year-old is considering several options as he searches for a new club, although reaching an agreement with Getafe is reportedly proving complicated.
Getafe, who are 14th in La Liga and competing in the Europa Conference League this season, are keen to secure Sancho’s signature.
The former England international is understood to favor a move outside England but remains open to other possibilities as negotiations continue.
Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73m but struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford.
He spent loan spells at Dortmund and Chelsea before joining Aston Villa last season, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery’s side enjoyed a successful campaign that included Champions League qualification and Europa League success.
His loan move to Chelsea during the 2024-25 season included an obligation to buy, but the London club paid a reported £5m penalty to return him to Manchester United after 41 appearances.
At Aston Villa, Sancho scored his only goal during the loan spell against Fenerbahce in the Europa League and came on as a late substitute in the final victory over Freiburg, marking his third European final appearance in three seasons.
Getafe have already strengthened their squad with the signing of former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old Spain international, who won 27 trophies with Real Madrid, including six Champions League titles, has signed a contract running until June 2027.
Sancho has continued training while searching for his next club, sharing videos of his sessions on social media.
He also visited non-league side Flixton, prompting speculation about a possible move before the club clarified that he was not on trial. Getafe’s offer now provides another potential route for the winger to continue his career in Spain.
