Canaries stand-in Skipper Ben Godfrey is seeking for unity and kindness in the Norwich City score squad after their 5-1 defeat at Carrow road against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Missing more than five players due to injury for the English Premier League game, Norwich City were a shadow of themselves as they conceded five times in the game.
The loss to Villa, who are fellow promoted side was the Canaries’ third consecutive defeat in the English Premier League, signaling a poor run of form for the side.
With the result, Norwich are now in the relegation zone, and the stand-in Skipper asked teammates to stand together during this period.
‘We have to stick together through these tough times, and It was far from our best. Far, far from our best. We got severely punished today, and it’s never nice to concede five and lose in that fashion. We have to learn quickly.”Godfrey stated
Since Daniel Farke’s appointment as the coach of the side, the team has never suffered a defeat as big as this, and Godfrey hopes the international break will help the team getting back into shape.
“The international break is coming up, so that’s a bit of a break for everyone to come back refreshed after and be ready to go again.” He continued.
Despite admitting how tough the result was on the players, he spoke on the need to stick together, including the fans.
“We’re all passionate, and we hate losing. There were a few words in the dressing room, but we have to stick together through these tough times. That includes the fans as well, the whole club. We have to stick together, and I’m confident we will pull through this.”
Godfrey, who stood in for Alex Tettey and Grant Hanley, who are both injured, will not be a part of the upcoming international break with England’s U21 as he will undergo a hernia operation in Germany.
Norwich City are priced at 2.50 to be relegated from the EPL, while Aston Villa are pegged at 2.40 to be relegated.
