Hellas Verona defeats Napoli; Lazio and Juve win

Lazio recorded a comeback victory against Sassuolo after coming behind from Francesco Caputo’s 6th-minute opener at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

The visitors deservedly went in front after creating several chances from the blast of the whistle. On the left side of the pitch, Filip Duricic released a pullback for Caputo who swept the ball into the net from 12 yards.

After a sluggish start, the Aquile began getting into the game with Manuel Lazzari’s shot going over before Joaquin Correa’s shot got deflected from point-blank range.

Sassuolo could do nothing to stop the hosts from restoring parity with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s thumping header which went under the bar from a corner.

Both sides later lost many chances but in-form striker and captain, Ciro Immobile scored the winning goal after meeting Adam Marusic pull-back from the by-line and hit it first time from seven yards.

Lazio could have even extended their lead but wasted a double chance later in the game.

The win leaves Lazio on 34 pints and 7th on the log. 9 points separate them from leader AC Milan.

In another development, Juventus stayed in the top four with 2 – 0 win over Bologna at the Allianz stadium.

A goal in each half from Arthur and Weston McKennie was enough to secure maximum points for Andrea Pirlo’s men.

The Brazilian opened the scoring inside 15 minutes through a deflected striker while  McKennie continues his goalscoring form for the Bianconeri with a header.

Bologna would have at least score a goal from the game, but all thanks to Wojciech Szczesny saves.

Meanwhile, Napoli suffered back-to-back defeat in a week after ending last week on a high note with a 6-0 thumping of Fiorentina.

Having lost 2-0 to Juventus in the Italian Super Cup, they then suffered another 3-1 defeat against Hellas Verona, despite opening the scoring.

Chucky Lozano scored inside a minute to give the visitors the lead inside Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi but they couldn’t stop the host coming back into the game and winning the tie.

The win has made then record a win against the Pertonopei having lost their last six Serie A meetings with them.

Lozano scored within nine seconds from Diego Demme ball over the top which was missed by Federico Dimarco.

The goal is Napoli’s fastest in the top flight and the third quickest in Serie A history.

However, the Mexican failed to score the second but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lozano accidentally cleared a Demme shot off the line.

Dimarco then made up for his error by starting a move that led to the equaliser. He spread the play and completed his run by slotting the ball into the net from Marco Davide Faraoni’s cross from 12 yards.

Verona then got back into the lead with another team goal.  Zaccagni’s pass found Antonin Barak, who took a touch before drilling the ball past Meret from a tight angle.

After Napoli lost more chances to equalise, Verona added to their misery with a third goal from a counter-attack. Although Meret managed to parry the Samuel Di Carmine effort, Lazovic was in the box to float it to the back post for Mattia Zaccagni, who headed in the final goal of the game.
