Argentina and Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has shared his experience of sharing the field along with legendary players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Ronaldo and Messi are regarded as the two best players of the current generation and their records speak for themselves.
Meanwhile, Martinez joined the Red Devils from Ajax in the summer for £51.6 million and he has been able to do a good job for Erik Ten Hag. The defender has played 16 matches for Manchester United across all competitions and he has formed a potent combination with Raphael Varane in the team’s defense.
Martinez revealed that Ronaldo has treated him really well in the training sessions and the Portuguese is very friendly.
Martinez said as quoted by ESPN Argentina (via Mirror): “I feel privileged, it is an honour to share with them. You learn, you absorb. They have won everything, they want more, an admirable mentality and you give your best in every workout.
Martinez then shed light on playing with Cristiano Ronaldo: “From the first day, Cristiano treated me well. He is very friendly, he has a very nice charisma, bringing smiles, making people laugh. He is very professional, he arrives early, he is the last to leave and he takes care of himself at meals. It all highlights why he has had such an impressive career.”
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are always compared against each other. Messi has been in fine form in the ongoing season whereas Ronaldo hasn’t had enough game time under Erik Ten Hag. The Portuguese had however scored in the Europa League clash against FC Sheriff.
Manchester United will next take on West Ham on Sunday at Old Trafford.
