Inter Milan snatch late draw against AC Milan in thrilling derby

The 182nd Serie A Derby della Madonnina lived up to its billing, with Inter Milan securing a dramatic 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the dying seconds of the match. Stefan de Vrij’s equalizer in the 93rd minute earned Inter a share of the spoils and extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to 17 matches.

The match was an open and intense affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. Federico Dimarco had a goal ruled out for Inter inside seven minutes, while Christian Pulisic’s shot was deflected behind. Nicoló Barella also had a shot saved as the Nerazzurri pushed for an early advantage.

AC Milan took the lead just before halftime, with Tijjani Reijnders scoring after Yann Sommer’s save from Rafael Leão’s low ball. The Rossoneri’s lead was almost doubled shortly after the restart, but Denzel Dumfries blocked Leão’s shot. Inter pushed hard for an equalizer, but Lautaro Martínez had another goal ruled out, and Yann Bisseck’s header hit the post.

As the match entered its final stages, Inter’s pressure began to pay off. Marcus Thuram and Dumfries both hit the post, and Mike Maignan bravely rushed out to stop Dumfries. Just when it seemed like AC Milan would hold on for the win, debutant Nicola Zalewski chested the ball back for De Vrij to score the equalizer.

The late goal was a bitter blow for AC Milan, who had been hoping to bounce back from their midweek loss to Dinamo Zagreb. Instead, they were left to rue conceding so late and dropping two valuable points.

The draw keeps Inter Milan in contention for the Serie A title, while AC Milan will look to regroup and get back to winning ways in their next match. The thrilling derby encounter will be remembered for its dramatic finale, with De Vrij’s late goal securing a share of the spoils for Inter.
