Kane Leads Bayern Blitz as Champions League Debutants Pafos Crushed

Harry Kane continued his remarkable goalscoring streak with another standout performance, netting twice in Bayern Munich’s emphatic 5-1 away win over Cypriot newcomers Pafos in the Champions League group stage.

The England captain, now 32, delivered a ruthless display of finishing as the German champions dismantled their hosts in a one-sided contest. Kane’s brace took his tally to a staggering 102 goals in just 105 appearances since joining Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023 for £86.4 million.

Pafos, making their first-ever home appearance in the main phase of the competition, were given a harsh introduction to the elite level. Their hopes were quickly dashed when Kane opened the scoring in the 15th minute, latching onto a Michael Olise pass and sweeping in a first-time finish.

Five minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead through Raphael Guerreiro, who calmly slotted home after clever play from Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese forward, on loan from Chelsea, then got on the scoresheet himself, turning in another Olise assist for his first goal with the club.

Kane struck again in the 34th minute, this time with his left foot from close range, to make it 4-0. Although Pafos briefly rallied with a stunning 20-yard curler from Mislav Orsic just before half-time, the gap in class remained evident.

Bayern restored their four-goal cushion midway through the second half when Olise got a deserved goal of his own, rifling into the roof of the net from a tight angle. The visitors came close to a sixth in injury time, but both Serge Gnabry and Jackson were denied by the post in quick succession.

Kane’s prolific form continues to drive Bayern’s perfect start to the 2025–26 season. He now has 17 goals in nine club matches this term, including 11 in his last five outings. His recent international strike in England’s 5-0 win over Serbia further underlines his sparkling form.

With this dominant display, Bayern remain firmly in control of their Champions League group and sit two points clear atop the Bundesliga. The Bavarians have now won all nine of their matches across all competitions this season, amassing 35 goals in the process.

For Pafos, it was a tough lesson at the highest level, but one that may fuel their continued growth on the European stage.
