La Liga has officially confirmed the date for the first El Clasico of the 2026/27 season, with Barcelona set to host long-time rivals Real Madrid in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Spanish football calendar.
The league announced on Tuesday, ending speculation over when the two giants would meet.
The clash is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, and will be played at Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou.
La Liga has set the kick-off for 9 pm local time, with the fixture forming part of Matchday 10 of the competition.
The fixture will bring together two sides that have made strong starts to the new league campaign.
Barcelona and Real Madrid currently sit level on nine points after their opening three matches, although Barcelona occupy first place due to their superior goal difference.
The meeting will also carry added significance for Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, as it will be his first Clasico since beginning his second spell in charge of the Spanish giants.
The Portuguese coach will face Barcelona in one of the biggest tests of his return to the Santiago Bernabeu dugout.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick will also enter the encounter with a strong record against Real Madrid from his first two seasons in charge at Camp Nou.
The German coach will be hoping to maintain that record when his side welcome their biggest domestic rivals in October.
With both clubs already competing at the top of the table, the October showdown could have major implications for the early title race.
Fans around the world will now have October 25 circled on their calendars as Barcelona and Real Madrid prepare to renew one of football’s most famous rivalries.
Barcelona’s next fixture is an away game at Valencia on Sunday, while Real Madrid will face Real Betis on Friday.
