European football returns to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in matchday two of the UEFA Champions League when French challengers Lille Olympique Sports Club (LOSC) faces off against former champions Chelsea FC of England.
The game will be played on Wednesday the 2nd of October, 2019. This will be the first time both sides will be playing against each other in Europe. This will also be the 7th time that Les Dogues will be up against English opposition having faced Manchester United FC in six previous games.
The home side has a battle on their hands as they seek their first win of the group stage against their illustrious English opponents. Lille’s coach Christophe Galtier will be expecting a different outcome from that of matchday one when his side Fell 3-0 away to Ajax Amsterdam AFC.
Coach Christophe will be hoping his young Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen can continue his impressive goal scoring form in front of his home fans. Victor has been impressive in the domestic French League, scoring six goals from 8 Appearances.
He will be backing himself to break his European duck and score his first-ever Champions League goal against the blues. Strike partner and former Chelsea player Loic Remy will be no stranger to the Stamford Bridge outfit. The Frenchman will also be hoping to put one over his former Club and help his side claim a surprise win over Chelsea.
The Blues we will be aiming to avoid a second successive loss after succumbing at home to a 1-0 loss against Valencia FC.
Chelsea coach Frank Lampard will be hoping he can guide his young side to a positive result and avoid a defeat that will condemn them to the bottom of group H. Coach Lampard will be hoping his charges can get an away win against the home side putting their campaign back on track. Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham will be expected to lead the line for the blues as he also goes in search of his first goal in Europe.
Chelsea looks odds-on favourites to win this match, but it will be interesting to see if Lille can add to the blues troubles when the match kicks off at 8 p.m.
Lille are priced at 3.58 to claim a decisive victory over Chelsea, while the Blues are fancied at 2.12.
