Amidst the anticipation surrounding his upcoming move to MLS, football superstar Lionel Messi effortlessly blended in with the crowd as he went grocery shopping in Miami, embracing a quieter lifestyle.
After enjoying a well-deserved family vacation in the Caribbean following the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the Argentine legend arrived in Fort Lauderdale on July 11. His highly-anticipated transfer to Inter Miami is on the horizon, and it seems he is swiftly adapting to his new city.
On July 16, alongside former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets, Messi received an enthusiastic reception from fans when he was officially presented to Inter Miami supporters at DRV PNK Stadium. The event, aptly named “The Unveil,” drew thousands of attendees, including season ticket holders who entered for free. To accommodate the high demand, the stadium’s capacity was expanded by 3,000.
While the spectacle delivered entertainment and on-pitch speeches, Messi has already shown contentment in leading a humble life in the Sunshine State. After being spotted at a Miami restaurant earlier in the week with his father, wife, and three children, the iconic forward was recently seen picking up groceries at a Publix store in South Beach.
With a shopping cart in tow, he appeared to have selected some classic American treats, including Lucky Charms cereal. Playfully interacting with his children, Messi seemed at ease as they explored the store’s offerings.
His son sported a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt, an establishment that named a sandwich after the soccer star. Hard Rock Cafe will have the “Made For You by Leo Messi” meal. It features thinly pounded chicken cutlets.
The atmosphere was joyful as Messi’s family, including their youngest son who requested Crunch cereal, appeared in high spirits during their public outing. Even Messi’s son waved at the camera, illustrating their comfort during the public appearance.
As the Messi family made their way to the checkout counter, they were recognized by only a few individuals, despite being in the presence of one of the world’s most famous personalities. Remarkably, there was no fanfare as Messi left the store, and the parking lot was deserted—a novel experience for the global superstar.
