Liverpool edges closer to Premier League title

Liverpool secured a thrilling 2-1 win over West Ham United, thanks to a late header from Virgil van Dijk to move just six points away from a league title. The Reds took the lead through Luis Diaz’s goal, but West Ham equalized when Andrew Robertson scored an own goal. However, Van Dijk made amends with a decisive header in the dying minutes of the game, sparking celebrations among the Liverpool fans.

The result has a significant implications for the Premier League title race, with Liverpool almost champions and also some impressive individual performances, including Van Dijk’s match-winning header for Liverpool.

It comes days after the Reds were able to secure the contract extension of Mohammed Salah until 2027.

Earlier on Saturday, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Brentford at the Emirates Stadium, pushing the Reds closer to the league, meaning that Liverpool needed six points to secure the league title from their remaining matches.

Elsewhere, Wolves thrashed Tottenham 4-2, with Rayan Ait-Nouri scoring inside two minutes and Matheus Cunha adding a fourth goal for the hosts. Tottenham’s woes continued as they struggled to contain Wolves’ attack, with Richarlison scoring a consolation goal for the visitors.

Wolves’ win over Tottenham also highlights their resurgence under new manager Gary O’Neil, with the team now sitting in a strong position in the league. It also underlined the struggles of Tottenham, which have been inconsistent in their performances this season.

Wolves will face Manchester United next Sunday in the Premier League, while Chelsea will face Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Blues stumbled in their race for a Champions League spot when they drew 2-2 with relegation-threatened Ipswich town. The visitors took the lead through goals from Nathan Broadhead and Armstrong Oko-Flex, but Chelsea responded through a Tuanzebe own goal and an equalizer from Jadon Sancho. Ipswich held on for the draw despite some late pressure from Chelsea.
