Lloris: It’s time to put Euro 2020 behind us and focus on Belgium

France captain Hugo Lloris has said that it was time for France to put the Euro disappointment behind them and look ahead to Thursday’s match in Turin.

Les Bleus will be clashing with Belgium in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

Speaking at a press conference before the game, the Tottenham Hotspurs keeper pointed out that it’s not a good idea to mix competitions. The Euro finished a few months ago, and the present talk should be about the Nations League semi-final.

He also started playing against the world number one makes things better for Didier Deschamp’s men, as the tournament involves the best teams in Europe.

Meanwhile, France coach Didier Deschamps said he expects a ‘fight’ against Belgium in the Nations League semi-final clash.

While noting that both sides respected each other, Deschamp said it would be a technical, physical, and tactical fight.

The Belgians were knocked out of the world cup by Les Bleau in the semi-finals. This could be revenge for the number one ranked team.

Being aware that Belgium will provide a stern test for France, Deschamps is thinking of how he will beat them.

Meanwhile, in his opinion on the recent suggestion by FIFA to its 211 members last Thursday about a biennial World Cup, Lloris said that would drain some of the magic from the tournament played every four years.

The skipper added that leaving the world cup format makes a quite rare tournament. He noted that playing the world cup every four years helps protect a precious tournament.

Lloris, who said he grew up waiting for the competition every four years, said that every player always has it in their mind with such a format and schedule. He, therefore, suggested that such a proposal should be decided by the players, the clubs, and the countries.
