Luis Enrique extends PSG stay

Reports from France say Luis Enrique has already signed an extension of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Le Parisien, the club or manager has not yet confirmed this, but several reports have said that it is the case.

However, the French outlet could not state the length of time nor the date it will be announced as it has yet to be leaked to them, but it is likely to be a two-year contract that could keep the Spanish manager in the capital until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Having led them to the league title last season and dealing with the exit of star player Kylian Mbappe, the former Barcelona manager has been strongly linked with an extension for several months.

At the start of the current campaign, the former Spain head coach has already entered the final year of his contract in the French capital.

As things stand, the Paris club’s management seemed pleased with the manager’s direction and believed that he is well-placed to lead the new project, which sees the team focus far more on developing younger talent than targeting ready-made stars.

PSG sporting director Luís Campos could also sign an extension soon in a related development.

Le Parisien reported that he is considering a two-year extension. They enjoy a complementary relationship with a shared long-term vision, even if they disagree.

The shared vision is also believed to be in sync with the management goal. Their ultimate goal remains the Champions League trophy, which has eluded them despite having one of the most potent strikers at some point.

Having settled into the Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe era, Enrique seems the man for the job.

With total support from the management, he could lead them to the ultimate glory for the club and make them a force to be reckoned with in European football.
