Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui Sidelined Following Minor Heart Procedure

Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui is expected to be out for several weeks after undergoing a minor heart procedure. The 26-year-old right-back, who joined United from Bayern Munich earlier this year in a deal worth an initial €15 million (£12.8 million), received treatment following reports of heart palpitations.

Mazraoui was substituted at halftime during United’s goalless draw against Aston Villa last weekend, raising concerns about his health. The club acted swiftly, replacing him with Victor Lindelof for the remainder of the match. Following the game, Mazraoui underwent a procedure to address the issue.

“This is a relatively common condition, and Noussair is expected to make a full recovery. He should be available for selection within the next few weeks,” a Manchester United insider was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

While the procedure is minor, the club is taking precautionary steps to ensure the player’s long-term well-being.

Mazraoui’s absence adds to Manchester United’s mounting injury crisis, particularly in defense. Club captain Harry Maguire, who also left the pitch at halftime against Aston Villa with a muscular injury, will join Mazraoui on the sidelines for the foreseeable future. The duo will accompany long-term absentees Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia, all of whom are unavailable due to respective injuries.

The spate of injuries is not limited to United’s defensive ranks. Midfield prodigy Kobbie Mainoo, along with attackers Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, withdrew from international duty during this October break after sustaining injuries. The timing of these issues presents an additional challenge for manager Erik ten Hag as he navigates a congested fixture list with limited squad options.

United will be keen to maintain momentum despite these setbacks as they balance domestic league duties with European competitions. The club’s medical team is optimistic about Mazraoui’s quick return to full fitness, but the absence of key players will put further strain on an already depleted squad.
