Mbappé leads France to victory over Luxembourg

France captain Kylian Mbappé led his team to a 3-0 win against Luxembourg with a go and two assists in a warm-up match ahead of the 2024 European Championship slated for Germany.

France started on a bright note. Kylian Mbappé’s right-footed shot from outside the box was blocked after receiving a pass from N’Golo Kanté.

Mbappé released a pass for Marcus Thuram, whose shot from outside the box was saved by the goalkeeper Anthony Moris.

Mbappé’s shot went wide after Randal Kolo Muani released a pass from the right side of the pitch.

France almost scored the opener when Antoine Griezmann hit the left post from outside the box after being released by Mbappé.

Dayot Upamecano’s header from Antoine Griezmann’s cross went off target, while Mbappé’s shot was saved after a headed pass from Griezmann.

In the first half, Luxembourg finally had a chance when Danel Sinani released Gerson Rodrigues, whose shot was blocked.

Griezmann released a cross to Randal Kolo Muani, but his header was too high. The striker eventually opened the goal account when he headed in Mbappé’s cross.

Mbappé had two opportunities to double France’s lead; his shot was wide right, and his header missed the target, and the 2018 World Cup winner failed to connect with Jules Koundé’s cross.

Morris was called into action when he saved a shot from Youssouf Fofana outside the box again, while Danel Sinani’s left-footed shot from outside the box was saved.

After Jonathan Clauss released a headed pass to Marcus Thuram, the attempt from the Inter striker was blocked.

France eventually doubled their lead in the 72nd minute through Clauss, who released a shot from outside the box to the top left corner from Mbappé’s corner.

Luxembourg almost reduced the parity when Enes Mahmutovic hit the bar with a header from a cross released by Danel Sinani following a corner.

Mbappé eventually made it three after receiving a pass from Bradley Barcola for the new Real Madrid signing shot into the left corner to sign out a wonderful outing.
