Monaco eye double signing

Reports from France say AS Monaco want to boost their squad with the signing of a defender and an attacker.

According to reports, Monaco made inquiries about Burnley winger Loum Tchaouna and even held talks on Nathan Ake of Manchester City.

The priority for Monaco is a centre-back before the closure of the transfer window. Although they have already signed a centre-back, Wout Faes, this month on loan from Leicester City, they seem to want to add another one to the squad.

Monaco was forced into the market after Mohammed Salisu suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

They suffered another injury blow when Faes got struck down over the weekend due to an ankle injury.

The Belgian had to come off in the first half of Saturday’s goalless draw against Le Havre AC, and he is expected to be ruled out for several weeks.

Eric Dier, whose minutes were being managed following his recovery from injury, was introduced in his place and also couldn’t complete the match.

The English defender came off with a hamstring injury, which also ruled him out for several weeks.

The injury crisis has therefore made the recruitment of a centre-back a key task for Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro.

According to L’Équipe, the Principality club held talks to sign Aké (30); however, the Dutchman is not expected to make the move to the Stade Louis II.

L’Équipe revealed that talks to sign Aké were brief and quickly abandoned.

Meanwhile,  Monaco also enquired about Tchaouna.

According to a report from L’Équipe, Monaco have inquired about the Frenchman who joined Burnley from Lazio in the summer for a reported fee of €15m.

The Premier League club may not sell him at least till the summer, as he has been a regular for Scott Parker’s side, who are in danger of an immediate return to the EFL Championship.

The winger has played 19 times in all competitions, scoring two goals in that time.

The Principality club are in the market for a forward as they look to replace Takumi Minamino, who will not play again this season, having suffered an ACL injury at the end of December.
