Napoli secure Champions League spot

Napoli will be participating in the Champions League for next season after sweeping Pisa aside 3-0.

Antonio Conte’s side got the maximum points against the relegated side with Scott McTominay, Amir Rrahmani, and Rasmus Hojlund goals.

The Partenopei’s celebration for top European football qualification was halted last week as they failed to lock down a top-four finish with a 3-2 home defeat to Bologna.

This was, therefore, a needed victory here, and they got the job done with a game to spare.

Eljif Elmas’s early volley got charged down. Napolitano eventually went ahead after having 80 percent possession in the first 20 minutes, with Scott McTominay’s snooker shot from the edge of the area going in off the inside of the far post.

They made it two minutes later as Amir Rrahmani rose to nod down the Elmas corner as Adrian Semper made the save but failed to stop it squirming over the line first.

Semper didn’t make another mistake this time around with a flying save on the Elmas strike over the bar.

Alex Meret was called into action when he rushed off his line for a desperate save on Stojilkovic after Alessandro Buongiorno’s error.

He was also alert when Stefano Moreo latched onto a loose ball

He couldn’t then stop the third from going in as Rasmus Hojlund ended his month-long goal drought when he met Pasquale Mazzocchi’s low cross from the right.

Meanwhile,  Conte has given a hint of leaving the club at the end of the season, even after securing Champions League football.

“There is one more match to go. I have a friendly rapport with the President. I arrived at Napoli during a moment of extreme difficulty, after the team finished in 10th place with a sense of depression around the club,” said Conte.
