Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is happy at the Etihad and not considering his future, according to former assistant Domenec Torrent.
The Spaniard endured a tough first campaign in English football after taking charge of City in the summer of 2016. Indeed, he failed to pick up a single trophy during his debut season at the helm and some suggested that he may struggle to repeat his feats from Barcelona and Bayern Munich in England.
But he has since gone on to win six trophies over the past two seasons, including back-to-back Premier League titles. Despite dominating the English game, some reports suggested he was considering taking up the vacancy at Juventus before the appointment of Maurizio Sarri.
However, former assistant Torrent, who is currently in charge of MLS side New York City, says Guardiola wants to stay in charge for the foreseeable future. Torrent told The Sun: “I know how happy he is Manchester. When he came to New York, he told me his family are settled and he’s very happy at the club.
“The most important thing for a coach is to work together with the sporting director, the chairman, the chief exec.
“He has Khaldoon [Al Mubarak], Ferran [Soriano], Txiki [Begiristain], so he’s very content. That’s important for Pep. They work closely every single day and they work hard to keep City at the top. You never know in the future but right now he’s fine there.”
City will look emulate cross-city rivals Manchester United by winning the title for a third successive time in 2019-20 and are priced at 1.60 to top the standings.
