AC Milan midfielder Christian Pulisic could be out of action for the Diavolo against Fiorentina after sustaining an injury during the international break.
The USA midfielder is likely to be out of the upcoming Serie A test after picking up a hamstring injury while away on international duty with the USA.
This leaves Massimiliano Allegri with a series of decisions to make for the return of domestic league action this weekend.
The American has been in great form for Milan this season, helping them to be in the top four of the Serie A table.
Pulisic, who was in the starting lineup for the USMNT against Australia in an international friendly in Colorado on Tuesday night, withdrew with a hamstring issue after just 30 minutes.
The USA coach, Mauricio Pochettino, during a post-match conference, revealed that the former Chelsea midfielder felt something in his hamstring and had to be removed as a precaution.
“He will fly back to Italy, we will assess tonight, and we can’t say anything at the moment,” he added.
Pulisic has averaged a goal involvement every game in Serie A, with four goals and two assists to his name from six league appearances. The American was awarded the division’s player of the month award for September.
Out of six Serie A games, he started four out of Milan’s six Serie A matches this season.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek had starred in a more advanced role the last time the American was out of the starting lineup. It is therefore likely that Christopher Nkunku or Rafael Leao will be given a chance in that role this time around.
Calciomercato.com reported that Nkunku could be the one to replace Pulisic in the Milan starting lineup this weekend. The Frenchman who scored for Les Bleus on Monday night could start the game on the left wing.
Leao, who left the Portugal national team camp early to focus on his fitness back at Milan, has not started for Milan since picking up an injury in his first competitive appearance of the season in a 2-0 victory over Bari in the Coppa Italia in August.
Allegri, therefore, has an option in the attack ahead of the big game.
