Real Madrid will welcome unwanted visitors Granada in the La Liga match Saturday at the Bernabeu after a disappointing showing in the UEFA Champions League during the midweek.
Zinedine Zidane’s side played out a 2-2 draw in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday against Belgian side Club Brugge Madrid had gone to goals behind in the first half of the game, no thanks to an Emmanuel Dennis brace in the first half.
However, the team rallied back from a Sergio Ramos goal and a late Casemiro strike to avert an embarrassing loss to the Belgians.
Meanwhile, newly-promoted Granada has been impressive in their return to the Spanish la Liga, winning four of their seven games – opening games beating Barcelona in one of the results. They also sit behind Madrid in the standings, having gathered 14 points, just one point behind the league leaders.
Therefore, it would not be an easy ride for Real Madrid who, despite topping the Spanish La Liga, has not been impressive in their victories.
Nevertheless, the team can look up to Karim Benzema for goals with the Frenchman having 5 goals already this season. Gareth Bale may have had a torrid summer after being unable to secure a move away from the Spanish capital, but he has managed 2 goals and an assist so far.
Also, Real are yet to lose so far this season. They won 4 matches and had 3 draws, but they must be wary of Granada who can bank on Antonio Rodriguez, Carlos Fernandez and Ramon Azeez for the goals.
Granada will hope to get a shock victory over the team that they have failed to beat in their last five meetings, but they would hope to replicate their last victory which came in 2013.
With Real Madrid’s porous defense which has conceded 6 times so far, Granada may stand a chance knowing fully well that they will Leapfrog Real Madrid into first place should they get the victory on Saturday.
Real Madrid are backed at 1.33 to defeat Granada, while Granada are available a 9.12 to win Madrid.
