Rivaldo lauds Fred’s fighting spirit and feels that other Manchester United players should learn from the Brazilian midfielder

Former Brazilian legend Rivaldo has appreciated the efforts of his compatriot Fred who has been criticised very much by Manchester United fans over the last couple of seasons. Rivaldo feels that Fred always gives his 100percent and fights for the badge.

Rivaldo added how other Manchester United players must adopt a mentality like Fred as they are often criticised for not pressing their opponents. Speaking to Betfair, the former Ballon D’Or winner said, “United have been criticized for not pressing their opponents but the Brazilian midfielder Fred always gives everything and presses opponents all the time. This is the kind of mentality that all United’s players need to adopt. Ragnick’s mission will be getting his players to press higher and collectively which will approximate them to the success.”

Manchester United are going through managerial changes as Ralph Rangnick has been appointed as the new interim manager to fill the void left by the former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norweigan parted ways with the club after a 4-1 humiliation to Watford. Since then Untied have done well under the stewardship of Michael Carrick. But now with Ralph Rangnick’s arrival, the former midfielder has left his position at the club.

Rivaldo feels that Rangnick joins United at the right time and they need someone of his experience to manage the operations. “Ralf Ragnick arrives at Manchester United at the right time since the club is not playing well and the club needs to improve. His mission will be to change the team’s approach to matches since they have been criticized for being too passive.”

The former Brazilian international feels that there is still time this season for the Red Devils to recover and aim for a top-four finish. “There’s still time for them to recover this season and at least fight for a top-four finish. They must grow in confidence. The arrival of a new manager always creates new motivation in a team, ” Rivaldo added.

United’s recent results against Chelsea and Arsenal under Carrick are a sign that this team have the quality to challenge the big teams in the Premier League. Rangnick will look to unlock the team’s full potential and make that push for a Champions League spot.
