Salah set for Liverpool return before season ends

Fears that Mohamed Salah’s emotional farewell season at Liverpool had ended prematurely have been eased.

The club has confirmed that the Egyptian star is unlikely to face a long lay-off following a minor muscle injury and is expected to feature again before the campaign concludes.

Salah was forced off in the 3-1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, replaced by Jeremie Frimpong just before the hour mark after stretching awkwardly for the ball.

He left the pitch to a warm standing ovation at Anfield, sparking concerns among fans that they had witnessed his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt.

Earlier this year, Salah announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season after nine memorable years on Merseyside.

During that time, he has made 440 appearances, scored 257 goals, and won nine major honors, cementing his status as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

Liverpool have not revealed the exact length of his absence, but they are optimistic he will return to action.

However, the upcoming trip to Old Trafford against Manchester United may come too soon for the forward.

Salah has enjoyed remarkable success against United, scoring more goals (13 overall and 7 away) against the Red Devils than any other player in Premier League history.

His absence would be a significant blow as Liverpool continue their  push for Champions League qualification.

With the hope of securing a Champions League spot, the Reds still face tough fixtures against Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Brentford.

Supporters will now hope to see their talisman grace the pitch one more time in what has been a historic final season.

Amongst the list of tough fixtures for Liverpool is a trip to Manchester as they travel to face Manchester United on Sunday
