Scott Parker: Bringing Fulham back to Premier League is the proudest moment of my life

Fulham coach, Scott Parker has said bringing the Cottagers back to the Premier League is the proudest moment of his life.

Fulham defeated Brentford 2-1 to clinch the last promotional slot. Leed United had emerged the winner of the Championship, and West Brom also qualified as the runners-up.

Parker, who was emotional after the team’s success against Brentford at Wembley on Tuesday night, said he is proud to see the team he took over while they were about being relegated from the Premier League, growing along the journey.

While noting that it has been a tough journey to secure a return to the top flight, the former West Ham midfielder said the support mechanism around him, his family, and close friends made him a proud lad.

Parker, who said the season they year has been very difficult said there was a time things were going at 100mph, and sometimes lose sight of other things, and family.

He also credited the players and the staff, who he described as amazing for making him feel strong at my weakest over the past year.

Parker began his journey with the London club as a caretaker after looking like a side that will eventually be relegated. But he is emotional and glad for guiding the oldest team in London back to the top flight after in just one season.

15 months ago, Fulham was the weeping boy as they lost most weeks during their last Premier League season. Parker,  who noted that the team conceded a lot of goals leading to their relegation, said people didn’t see a deeper rooted issue at the club. The problems, according to him, had some real gaping wounds.

He added that he tried pushing along the way by changing the mentality and the team’s real way.

Knowing fully well how important this was, Parker stated that he tried to balance that with an expectation, and he was rewarded.

He stated that he is proud to be in charge of a team that has witnessed a transformation and also learning.

He added that Fulham is still growing and still needs to improve ahead of their new journey in the Premier League.
