There is none like him – When Ander Herrera picked Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Manchester United player Ander Herrera picked Lionel Messi as a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi vs Ronaldo is always a hot topic among football aficionados and the fans are divided between the two legendary players, who have taken the sport to new heights.

Back in 2019, Herrera had said that Lionel Messi is the best player to have ever played the game. Meanwhile, Manchester United were taking on Barcelona back in 2019 in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and Herrera got a taste of what it is like to face Messi and Co.

Blaugrana defeated Red Devils by an aggregate of 4-0. Barca thrashed United by 3-0 in the second leg, with Lionel Messi scoring a brace.

The Spaniard had told El Periodico (reported via Times Now): “The team (Barcelona) has the best player (Messi) in history. For me, the most decisive I have ever seen in my life, and I have played and faced the best, but there is none like him.”

Meanwhile, Herrera also adores Cristiano Ronaldo for his impressive skills but he feels Messi was touched by God’s wand.

“I absolutely adore Cristiano Ronaldo for what he has done, the effort he has shown, and his personality and behavior at times. He’s a role model for children, but Messi was touched by God’s wand.”

On the other hand, Messi did struggle a bit for PSG while Ronaldo was the lone warrior for the Red Devils in the previous season. Ronaldo is currently 37 years old whereas Messi recently turned 35 years but both of them are still at the top of their fitness. The upcoming FIFA World Cup is expected to be the last major tournament for these big players.

Both of these players have redefined how Football is played and have taken the game to new heights.
