Tottenham striker Harry Kane scored the game’s opening goal from the penalty spot in the 24th minute of the first half, and he made it 2-0 before the halftime break. In between his two goals, Arsenal’s defender Rob Holding was sent off for a second bookable offense.
Meanwhile, South Korean forward Son Heung-Min scored a third immediately after the break to ensure that 10-man Arsenal must win their last two matches of the season or better Tottenham’s results to assure their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Nevertheless, Arsenal remain in fourth position with 66 points, one more than Tottenham in fifth with 65 points. Tottenham’s last two games include a tie against Burnley at White Hart Lane before playing against relegated Norwich city on the last day of the Premier League at Carrow Road.
